About
Our Story
It started with a pillowcase. A friend bought a €150 silk pillowcase because the brand claimed it would "repair skin cells" and "reverse aging." Curious, we looked up the studies they cited. Every single one was about injectable fibroin biomaterials — surgical research on purified silk protein. Nothing to do with sleeping on a pillowcase.
That bothered us. Not because silk is bad — it's genuinely wonderful stuff. It reduces friction, preserves moisture, and feels incredible against your skin. But the industry wraps real benefits in pseudoscientific marketing to justify prices that have nothing to do with the actual cost of silk.
So we called the factories. The same factories that make nightgowns for brands charging €200-400. We asked: "What does it actually cost to make this?" The answer? About €22 for a nightgown. Grade 6A mulberry silk. 19 momme charmeuse. French seams. The exact same product.
The HVILE difference
We show you the factory cost on every product. Not because we're trying to be edgy — but because we think you deserve to know what you're paying for. Our margin is 25%. The rest goes to Grade 6A mulberry silk, ethical manufacturing, quality control, and getting it to you in 3-7 days from our EU warehouse.
We don't make claims we can't back up. Every statement on our website links to a peer-reviewed study. We won't tell you silk repairs your DNA or reverses wrinkles. We'll tell you it reduces friction by 34-43% compared to cotton. That's real. That's measurable. And honestly? That's enough.
Who we are
Three friends from Norway. Currently studying medicine at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. We spend our days learning how the human body actually works, and our evenings building a brand that respects your intelligence.
HVILE means "rest" in Norwegian. The kind of rest you get when you stop overthinking and just let go. That's what we want our products to feel like. And that's what we want our brand to feel like — no noise, no pseudoscience, no 3× markup. Just really good silk at a fair price.
Rest, honestly.
